So the question was brought up by a friend “Why I wanted to start a Blog”, well the thing is I got into blogging completely different than how most people do. You see I first learned about blogging from listening to podcasts (most people find out about podcasting thru blogs).
I began podcasting back in August of 2005 with a fitness show called “A Better Day”. The idea was to do something that I would enjoy with the possibilities of making a nice income out of it. I started my show about health & fitness instead of about music because there were so many other music podcasts out already. Beside fitness is something I like too. Well after about 2 years, I got bored and I had made a whopping $200.00. So I pod-faded (that’s the term used when you stop producing new episodes).
A few months later, I decided to start a new podcast, only this time it would be about what I really loved the most, songwriting. So I started The Songwriter Show. I still hoped that the whole podcasting thing would make me enough money, if not to live on at least to bring in a nice little supplement. After-all there are folks out there actually making a living off podcasting. But my real intent was to talk about something I’ve always loved. “Music”.
So after 23 episode’s why did I pod-fade, again?
Well the answer is lack of time. I found that preparing and recording my podcast was getting in the way of writing music. The one thing I loved so much that I created a podcast about… On one of my episodes I answered a listeners email about how I thought that blogging would probably be a better option for them, instead of podcasting because with blogging, you’re not constraint to a time schedule as much as with podcasting.
So here I am. Taking my own advise.
I don’t exactly know how often I’ll do this. Nor do I know how long I’ll do it for. I’ll write just about anything, but will try to keep most subject matters about music, songwriting, and the music industry in general. But “hey”… this is my blog, and I can do whatever I want with it…AHHH! The freedom of it all…lol.
